Group Elected to Chamber’s
Innovation Task Force
October 31, 2011 - Derek Mathis, a Charleston native and real estate developer with Miller-Valentine Group, has been elected to the Charleston Chamber of Commerce’s Innovation Task Force. This committee was created to advocate, support and promote the following four target areas: Advanced Security/IT, Aerospace, Biomedical and Wind Energy. The Task Force is also responsible for planning and facilitating an advanced technology conference, scheduled for
March 2012. The 3-day conference will bring together professionals from these industries to network and discuss the impact they have on the Charleston region.
Mr. Mathis has been involved in numerous philanthropic organizations including The Dee Norton Lowcountry Children’s Center, United Way, and Kiwanis.
