Miller-Valentine Group Begins Construction on Veterans Benefits Administration Regional Office
COLUMBIA, S.C. - May. 22, 2008 - Local development and construction firm, Miller- Valentine Group, recently broke ground on a new regional office for the Veterans Benefits Administration in Columbia, S.C.
Expected to house over 500 employees, the new office will be developed on approximately ten acres of land across from the Dorn VA Hospital campus and is scheduled to be complete in May 2009.
After actively pursuing the contract since fall 2006, Miller-Valentine Group partnered with Keenan Development, the developer and owner of the building, to provide design/build construction services for the 116,000-square-foot, Class "A" office space. The federal government requirements and complexity of the building has made this a unique and stimulating project. "We're very excited to have a hand in the new VA regional building and are enjoying the different challenges that come with it," said Doug Putlock, Senior Project Manager with Miller-Valentine Group.
There will be two tenants in the regional office, VBA and Veterans Healthcare Administration. Both their missions play a critical role to serve our nations veterans by providing assistance to them and their families in our southeast region.
